Why Horsetail?

Horsetail is a favourite botanical extract of Fuaraìn's consultant medical herbalist, Brian Lamb.

Brian has used Equisetum Arvense in his tinctures for many years, citing a great number of positive benefits, particularly in relation to skincare.  He has noted that the mineral profile of this botanical extract matches that required by fibroblasts for the DNA synethesis of collagen, elastin and mucopolysaccharides.  In short, Brian believes that it is a very effective extract for boosting collagen and elastin.

The name comes from its long stem, which looks (yes, you guessed it!) like a horse’s tail!

Horsetail + Skincare

High in antioxidants and silica, it has been used in medical herbalism for centuries, dating back to Greek and Roman times.  In skincare, it is often used as a natural anti-inflammatory or anti-bacterial remedy.  The abundance of silica contains collagen, which is an important component of the skin, helping cells to renew and repair.
